Harry’s favourite new forest walking trails

If you’re on the hunt for nature, tranquillity, and adventure all in one, heading out on a walk in the great outdoors might be just what the doctor ordered! At Harry’s Campsites in the New Forest, there are ample walking trails for you to explore and get out into nature. Harry’s Field and The Old Airfield provide some of the best walking trails in New Forest.

These are some of our favourite walking trails you can access from our campsites. Whether you’re looking to see wildlife, immerse yourself in history, or you’re looking for a walk that ends in an ice-cold pint, we’ve got a walking trail for absolutely everyone.

Frogham Loop

From Harry’s Field Campsite, you can head out on a walking trail that has a perfect mix of natural beauty and wildlife. You can also go through the Frogham Loop. This walking trail provides a scenic walk through beautiful ancient woodlands. You can approach the resident donkeys, ponies, and deers as you trek through the trail. It’s a perfect trail for an early morning or mid-afternoon walk. You might even be lucky to spot some rare birds and other wildlife that call the area surrounding the campsite their home.

Deer Spotting Stroll

For a shorter yet equally rewarding walk, you can explore our Deer Spotting Stroll, which begins from Harry’s Field and takes you right through areas typically populated by loads of local deer.

Wear comfortable shoes and definitely don’t forget to bring your camera!

Circular Walk to Ogdens

One of the New Forest’s hidden gems is a super easy 10-minute stroll away, the stream at Ogdens is an idyllic place to spend a lazy summer’s day. We even supply fishing nets so that you can laze by the stream catching minnows post-walk.

Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a sunny afternoon on the banks. The circular walking trail looping back to the campsite will have you passing by foals, ponies, donkeys, and cows grazing on the pasture so you can truly get your nature fix.

Burley Forest Walk

The Old Airfield campsite is a brilliant spot to start your trek exploring both the forest and the nearby coastline. A walk beginning at The Old Airfield and passing through the Burley Forest is a must-do if you’re looking for a relaxing walk that passes by peaceful nooks and scenic picnic spots. The Burley Forest Walk also provides a dive into history, with remnants of The Old Airfield adding a touch of intrigue to your walk.

Perfect for a midday stroll, pack a picnic lunch to stop to enjoy the scenery as a well-deserved break during your walk.

The Old Airfield to The White Buck

If you’re someone who prefers to head out on a walk if there’s a reward waiting for you at the end, this walking trail is the perfect thing. The trail starts at The Old Airfield and takes you directly to The White Buck pub in Burley.

Finish your trek with an ice-cold pint before traipsing back through the greenery to your campsite – go on, you deserve it!
